Art Paris
A regional, national, and cosmopolitan fair, Art Paris takes place annually in early Spring. It puts the spotlight on many countries or continent’s art scene: Russia (2013), China (2014), Singapore and Southeast Asia (2015), Korea (2016), Africa (2017), Switzerland (2018), Latin America (2019) and the Iberian Peninsula (2020). In parallel, Art Paris is committed to supporting the French scene. Since 2018, it has been asking an exhibition curator to turn a subjective, historical, and critical eye on a selection of specific projects by French artists from among the participating galleries. A specific theme is chosen, and the focus is accompanied by a text presenting their work. Finally, since 2022, director Guillaume Piens and all the team have overtaken to develop a sustainable approach for their fair. A not-to-miss in the French cultural agenda.

What would you say is the DNA of Art Paris?
Art Paris is a broadly themed, modern and contemporary art fair with 130 galleries from 23 countries. It focuses in part on a regional exploration of European art scenes from the post-war period to the present day, whilst showcasing the new horizons of contemporary creation from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Its theme-based approach and sectors (Solo Show and Promises specifically supporting young galleries and emerging talents) affirm this leading spring event’s vocation as a place of discovery. In 2022, Art Paris is also characterized by its actions in favor of the environment. Its two themes “Natural Histories, a focus on the French scene” and “Art & Environment” are orchestrated by guest independent curators, Alfred Pacquement and Alice Audouin respectively. In parallel, the fair has committed to a pioneering an innovative and sustainable approach to organizing an art fair.
What type of galleries are chosen to exhibit, and why?
The fair blends blue-chip galleries with small and medium-sized galleries. These galleries have their own unique editorial line and represent artists who deserve to be discovered or rediscovered, despite not being in the top 50 star artists you see everywhere.
What is the price range of pieces? Who is the average buyer?
Even if there is some expensive art at the fair, the majority of works are priced between 10,000 and 50,000 euros and, as such, are affordable works for collectors who want to treat themselves.
“Art Paris is a regional and cosmopolitan fair that promotes the new horizons of international creation, explores art scenes that are little or rarely seen in Paris, supports the French and European scenes.”

What strategy – physical as digital – will you adopt in the short to medium term?
Our objective for the coming years is, above all, to continue improving in terms of quality, whilst reinforcing our specific identity: Art Paris is a regional and cosmopolitan fair that promotes the new horizons of international creation, explores art scenes that are little or rarely seen in Paris, supports the French and European scenes, fosters its own unique identity and shows things that you won’t see anywhere else.
Art Paris is an antidote to the uniformity that can be seen in so many other art fairs.
What are two other art fairs you would suggest?
ArcoMadrid and Art Brussels.
