The Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair

The combination of being the first quality fair in London of the new year and the prestigious location at the 5-star London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, with all its hospitality facilities, in the heart of Mayfair in London’s popular West End, gives our event a unique profile on the fairs’ calendar. Also, the size of the show remains constant, providing regular visitors with continuity and the opportunity to see familiar faces in a welcoming setting.

Exhibitors are in the main drawn from The British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) and LAPADA The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers, the UK’s main dealer associations, which guarantees that the standard of exhibits is high. Having a broad range of disciplines is also important so that there is a wide variety of objects and works of art for sale from the ancient to the contemporary.

The fair aims to make it possible for anyone with an interest in fine art and antiques to make a purchase, so prices range from under £100 to six figure sums. The average buyer tends to be private individuals acquiring something to enjoy and cherish, although there are also members of the trade and interior designers making purchases for clients.

Due to its location, the fair draws an international audience, be it visitors coming to London especially for the event or local residents enjoying a day out in the capital. Many who attend are established customers of the 40-odd exhibitors but each year sees an influx of new attendees who come to seek out the quirky or glitzy, be they established collectors or people who are drawn to a different kind of shopping experience. We also work closely with the hotel, so all their guests are potential customers, some of whom have admitted to never having been to an antiques fair before, but have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

As it hasn’t been possible to stage a physical fair in January 2021, a virtual event took its place – this benefited both the UK audience and customers worldwide. However, nothing beats the interaction between dealers and customers in the setting of a prestigious fair and in the medium term, the hope is that the event can be staged safely again come early 2022.

The Connect Art Fair is a relatively new initiative, also staged in Mayfair and organised by a collective of art dealers – it brings a fresh approach and a nice atmosphere. The Olympia Art & Antiques fairs, also in London, are long running events of great stature and highlights of the summer and autumn seasons.
